Roy's Place Art Print Inspired by Roy Lichtenstein
Roy Fox Lichtenstein, a pioneering American pop artist, was born in Manhattan on October 27, 1923. His most well-known work from this time period is Whaam!, which Lichtenstein created in 1963 taking as his inspiration a comic book scene from an All-American Men of War issue published by DC Comics in 1962. Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck appeared in later works.
He once said, "When I've employed comic images, I've done them humorously. To ponder: Why would someone want to accomplish this with contemporary painting?
