Oh but my darling, What if you fly?

I had never seen a wheelchair user manage to take a ride in a hot air balloon but I decided to go ahead and take the risk.

As the balloon slowly rose into the sky, the sensation of floating, as I imagined that this may be like flying.  “Feet, what do I need you for when I have wings to fly? “( Frida Kahlo)

The sensation of floating in a hot air balloon is truly unique and exhilarating. How awe-inspiring it was to have gazed down at the world from such a unique perspective. How inspiring and life changing!

The gentle ascent, the feeling of weightlessness, and the breathtaking views from above - I immediately thought of the lines by Erin Hanson, ‘There is freedom waiting for you, On the breezes of the sky, And you ask “What if I fall?” Oh but my darling, What if you fly?’ and indeed this is what I did!

 This was perfect for capturing the essence of taking risks and embracing new experiences. It's a reminder that the unknown can be both thrilling and liberating, and that sometimes the only way to discover what lies ahead is to take the leap. Frida never hesitated to stick with her beliefs. She never hesitated to take chances.

This is my new fun and creative project! Reimagining Frida Kahlo as if she were still living in modern times is a great way to pay homage to her legacy and artistic spirit. A way to keep her a live. The idea of depicting her in everyday scenarios, doing ordinary activities, things she may or may not have done if she were with us today. This is my way to humanize her and make her more relatable to contemporary audiences. These painting stories are realized completely from my overactive imagination and not necessarily true.
