Frida Kahlo is a fascinating subject, and my portrait of her surrounded by butterflies and birds is a unique and captivating piece. The contrast between Frida's serious expression and the whimsical, natural elements surrounding her is meant to create a captivating visual dynamic.
Butterflies and birds are often symbolic of transformation, renewal, and freedom, which are all themes that are present in Frida's life and artwork. The addition of these elements to the portrait is to suggest that I am exploring these themes in my own work, and using them to reflect on Frida's life and legacy.

This is my new fun and creative project! Reimagining Frida Kahlo as if she were still living in modern times is a great way to pay homage to her legacy and artistic spirit. A way to keep her a live. The idea of depicting her in everyday scenarios, doing ordinary activities, things she may or may not have done if she were with us today. This is my way to humanize her and make her more relatable to contemporary audiences. These painting stories are realized completely from my overactive imagination and not necessarily true.
