Eavesdropping - Archival Paper Print inspired by Matisse
When I considered Matisse's 1938 work La Conversation, which depicts two women having a conversation over beverages in the afternoon, I got the concept for my Big Hat Ladies. The fact that the women appear to be listening in on the party made me think that it would look fantastic in this composition. Notice how I gave them their own beverages to make them feel included, lol. Matisse is renowned for combining several patterns in a single piece of art. I enjoy doing this since it is challenging. In addition to mixing patterns, he also used a lot of colors that you probably wouldn't think to use or desire to use together. It's challenging, but I believe I succeeded in this case by providing each lady her distinct color scheme. Somehow, it seems like
